A colorful Butter Bell

Butter Bell Bliss: Irresistible Compound Butter Recipes Inside

Just a quick note before we dive in: This post isnโ€™t sponsored in any way – I’m not an affiliate for Butter Bell, and I donโ€™t earn a penny from sharing their products. I just genuinely love this clever little gadget and wanted to pass along something Iโ€™ve found useful (and pretty cute) for the kitchen or table.

Now, letโ€™s be clear: only real butter lives in my house. Margarine? Not invited. I do keep coconut oil on hand as a plant-based option, but butter reigns supreme here.

Okay – enough about my fake-butter feelings. Letโ€™s talk about how to keep your butter soft, spreadable, and ready when you need it most.

THE BUTTER BELL (what it is and how to use it)

If youโ€™ve never heard of a Butter Bell, hereโ€™s the scoop. Picture this: you want to spread butter on some fresh bread, but the butter from the fridge is rock-hard. Tearing up your bread isnโ€™t exactly appetizing – and it can get pretty frustrating.

Thatโ€™s where the Butter Bell comes in. Itโ€™s a clever little crock that lets you keep butter safely on the counter or table so it stays soft and ready to spread. Itโ€™s made of two parts: the base, which holds a bit of water, and the bell-shaped lid that holds the butter. You just pack the butter into the bell, place it upside-down into the crock, and that little bit of water creates a seal that keeps everything fresh.

Be sure to change the water once a day. If you do, your butter can stay safe and spreadable for up to a month. And donโ€™t worry – the water wonโ€™t make it soggy or change the taste. It simply helps the butter sit a few degrees warmer than room temperature while keeping the air out.

Butter Bells come in a huge variety of colors and designs. There is one to go with every kitchen or dining room.

TIPS:

  • If using unsalted butter add a little salt to the water when you change it daily. If using salted butter, there is no need for this. The salt will not get into your butter nor make it taste any different, but it will keep any possible mold from forming. I recommend a couple of turns of a salt grinder or a tiny pinch.  I also recommend using sea salt.
  • To fill the Butter Bell, I turn it upside down and place an unwrapped stick of butter into the bell with the stick standing on its end. I let it sit like that for a few minutes so the butter can soften slightly. Once itโ€™s pliable, I use the butter wrapper to gently press it down into the bell. Itโ€™s quick, keeps your hands clean, and thereโ€™s no need to dirty any utensils. Just be sure to press it in firmly to avoid leaving air pockets.
  • I like to use filtered water in the base, though thatโ€™s a personal preference – itโ€™s not required.

History of the Butter Bell

VERSATILE

The Butter Bell isnโ€™t just great for keeping plain salted or unsalted butter soft and spreadable on the counter – it can also be used to store compound butter.

Compound butter is simply regular butter mixed with flavorful add-ins like herbs, spices, fruits, or even roasted vegetables. These blends are a delicious way to elevate anything from toast and bagels to baked potatoes and fresh rolls.

You certainly donโ€™t need a Butter Bell to make or enjoy them. A basic food storage container in the fridge works just fine for storing compound butters – though if youโ€™ve got a Butter Bell handy, it can be a charming little home for them too. www.butterbell.com sells mini Butter Bells called “Juniors”. Perfect for butter compounds.

Amazingly Delicious Compound Butter Recipes

I highly recommend giving a Butter Bell a cozy little spot in your kitchen. Itโ€™s one of those small things that makes a big difference – practical, pretty, and full of charm.

If you end up trying one, Iโ€™d love to hear what you think! And if you come up with any creative ways to use it or whip up a fun new compound butter recipe, donโ€™t keep it a secret – share the buzz! Letโ€™s keep the butter-loving inspiration going.

Have A Deliciously Buttery Day!
